Swallows

Here is my latest linocut reduction print. It is called ‘Swallows’, inspired by my favourite early summer walks around Bedford’s Priory Marina. It is always a pleasure watching these acrobatic birds perform their aerodynamics over the lake at dawn or dusk. It’s exciting seeing the first swallows arrive each year. You know that summer is on it’s way.

It’s a reduction print which means each colour layer was carved from the same block of lino, rather than using a separate block for each colour. The lino is gradually destroyed (or reduced) as the art is created. I can’t go back and print more! Only 14 were created.

Swallows are available to buy from my Etsy Shop now.

They are selling very quickly so I have also made A6 cards of the design which will be available to buy from me in person at Bedford Flea. I scanned the print and did a few edits in Photoshop. I didn’t clean up too many wayward marks as I wanted to maintain the handprinted quality of the art on the card. I did need to adjust the colours slightly. The A6 cards come with a eco craft envelope and are wrapped in a compostable clear bag, which is handy if you are selling outdoors in rainy weather! They look great as a pair! If you’re buying a gift, why not get the matching card too!
