Straccia
Marisa lives in Bedford, UK. She works as a digital illustrator for Doodle Press Ltd and is a committee member of The Circus of Illustration.
Her linocut printing is an act of folk art rebellion against screens. All her prints are made by hand and are her own designs. Her work process is deliberately low technology and energy efficient, creating work from her living room table with a baren and a back of a wooden spoon. This means every print in a series has little handmade variations in texture and impression. Every piece is unique.
Her subjects are inspired by British nature, folklore, old songs and magical creatures.
Marisa also enjoys life drawing, urban sketching, birdwatching, cooking vegetarian food and snuggling up with her feline familiar, who is also rather keen on birds.
